Drywall, Texture & Repairs

Good drywall repair is judged by what you cannot see. The point is to blend the repair into the wall so it disappears under paint. We handle patches large and small, tape-and-bed, texture matching, and finish so the surface is truly paint-ready.

Our approach

How we handle drywall, texture & repairs.

Most drywall damage in DFW homes comes from a short list: settling cracks as the clay soil moves, doorknob and furniture impacts, removed fixtures, plumbing or roof leaks, and the holes left behind by old repairs done badly. Each one has a correct repair method — patches backed and floated properly, tape-and-bed where joints have failed, and full cut-back to solid material where water has damaged the board.

The part that separates a real repair from a visible one is texture matching. Orange peel, knockdown, and smooth finishes each need their own mud consistency, application, and timing, and the blend has to be feathered into the surrounding wall so no boundary shows. We check work under raking light — the low-angle light that reveals bad patches in the evening — before anything is called finished.

Repairs are left truly paint-ready: primed so the patch does not flash through the finish coats, and blended so the repair disappears. If you have had a leak, we also make sure the moisture source has been addressed before closing the wall back up.

Common questions

Drywall, Texture & Repairs FAQs

Will the patch show after the wall is painted?

That is the standard we work to — the repair should disappear under paint. Matching the existing texture, feathering the blend into the surrounding wall, and priming correctly are what make that happen. We check the finish under raking light before calling it done.

Can you match my existing wall texture?

Yes — knockdown, orange peel, smooth, and most common regional textures. Texture matching is a skill job, and it is the part of drywall repair we are most often called in to fix after someone else attempted it.

Can you repair water-damaged drywall?

Yes, once the source of the water has been fixed. Damaged board is cut back to solid material, the area is checked for lingering moisture, and the wall is rebuilt, textured, and left paint-ready.
